Jackfruit Appe/Palaa pazha kuzhi paniyaram can be another way to relish jackfruits when they are in season. Jackfruit has its own flavour and aroma and this paniyaram is definitely a nice blend of aroma from jackfruit, jaggery, elaichi & ghee.

yields –25 to 30 Nos.
- Raw rice – 1 cup
- Jackfruit (Ripe & deseeded) – 1 cup
- Jaggery – ¼ cup
- Coconut gratings – 2 tbsp
- Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – a pinch
- Ghee – as required
Method:
1.
Wash & soak raw rice in
enough water for 4 to 5 hours.
2.
In a mixie jar, add the soaked
raw rice, deseeded jackfruit pieces, jaggery, coconut gratings, cardamom power
and grind to a fine smooth paste.
3.
Transfer the batter to a bowl. Add
a pinch of salt and required water to bring it to idli batter consistency.
4.
Heat the appe pan. Grease the
moulds with generous amount oof ghee. Pour the spoonful of better into the
mould.
5.
Cook in medium flame until the
paniyaram gets cooked on both sides by flipping it on both sides.
6. Do the same for the rest of the batter.
Your delicious, healthy jackfruit appam is ready to relish!
Note:
- Jaggery quantity can be varied depending on the sweetness of the
jackfruit and as per your sweet preference.
- Jaggery should be dissolved in water to drain out the impurities
before adding for grinding.
